Fruitful Job Shadowing with TDM2000International in Cagliari.

Knowing European NGOs such as TDM 2000 International, gives a lot of positive inputs to me. I was selected as one of the participants from Indonesia to follow the program EuroAsi : From Europe to Asia , Job Shadowing  in 2016 , in Cagliari , Italy . Just to refresh my sweet memory, the first day I arrived in Cagliari was greeted by Federico Gaviano and Luisa Zedda from TDM2000International staff, who picked me up at the airport. From the airport we went straight to the office TDM2000International where other friends have prepared a little surprise welcoming party alla TDM2000International . There, I met the other job shadower participant, Marlo Schoenenberger, and we took a photo with president of TDM2000International, Angelica Perra. Marlo, he’s from the Philippines who became my best friend during my stay in Cagliari. And he’s also my roommate at the hostel where we stayed not far from our office, about 5 minutes on foot.

My activities during the first week were very effective. I visited the “Unica Radio” together with Marlo, Luca and Federico from TDM2000International. This radio is located at the campus of university of Cagliari were being run by young people , there, I met the director , Carlo Pahler , who conveyed the history of “Unica Radio” which would like to invite young people to listen the music, the news and to engage in European politic and participate in the elections. For me, Carlo as a “professor” who runs the Radio by using the things and the tools unused around the campus and the broadcast tools that he found at the market which he got good price with the high quality they have. With all this, he created qualified broadcast equipment which are used to broadcast until now, well, it’s a piece of cake!. This radio is a web based, where we can access it on www.unicaradio.it

The visit to Unica Radio and having interesting discussion with Carlo Pahler, made us do not realize that it was already 01:00 pm, it’s time for lunch. In Cagliari , as in other cities in Italy , we can find many “pizzerie” are selling lots of food choices typical of Italy such as Bianca / Focaccia , Margherita , Marinara , Diavola , Boscaiola , Quattro formaggi and many more, http://www.slideshare.net/Pogimnazija/pizza-un-amore-grande-ii. My favorite pizza is Pizza ai funghi, mushrooms pizza. After lunch, I attended a hearing session of the management team of TDM2000international which describes the management, how they run the organization, the programs that exist in TDM2000international and the organizations affiliated with.

The day after, I was invited by TDM2000International to be with them (Luca and Federico) of course with Marlo as well, to meet the Mayor and staffs at the Municipality of Cagliari. It was a new experience for me, because the first time I saw a meeting with the Mayor and his staff was being done in casual forum, in the front yard of the mayor’s office to explain in general the cooperation programs and ask for the support from the mayor. After a long talk with Mr. Mayor of Cagliari, il signor Zedda, he invited us to continue the conversation more detailed and technical to Mr. Nicola Cabras who’s working for the city of Cagliari and commissioners in the Municipality of Cagliari, so, we’re moving towards the office of Mr. Nicola Cabras, located on the 2nd floor of the building of the Municipality of Cagliari. There we talked about the city of Cagliari who becomes the candidates of the European city of sport. There, we also talked about the program of TDM2000International and the Municipality’s programs related to youth and sports field that can be cooperated and worked together with; from the type of activities, the time and schedule of implementation, the participants, and so on. I think it was good discussion that we had between the two sides at this level, after that, we just await for the decision expected from the higher authority of the Municipality of Cagliari.

The next session I followed was the presentation from Luisa Zedda, the person in charge of Visibility strategy of EuroAsi and TDM2000International and she is also the coordinator of European Voluntary Service who has the same surname with the Mayor of Cagliari, Mr. Massimo Zedda, hehehe 🙂  but , they are not related in relative at all . I attended a presentation on Dissemination and Visibility of the Results of all the Projects, which is very important for International publications by using the social media like Facebook, Twitter etc. Luisa also explained and tried to share about non -formal education, its status in each country, the system and the possibilities of program cooperation that could be realized. It was a presentation that invited the spirit to get involved in the activities of TDM2000International.

After a hearing session with Luisa Zedda , I attended the presentation and practice session from Francesca Marchionne, a translator and the president of “OnAir Association” who introduced me to a real-time application subtitling in interlingual system, using voice recognition software which is very useful for the field of audiovisual , the radio where I am working at, and for the deaf community or the hard-of-hearing, even this application can be also used in the academic world . The application is “Respeaking” www.respeaking.net. Thanks to Francesca Marchionne, who already introduced this very valuable thing to me.

As a journalist and radio broadcaster, the most impressive thing for me is to be able to interact with people who have the same profession as mine. On Wednesday,  my agenda was together with Federico Gaviano, staff of TDM2000International who is also a journalist freelance local print media, to visit the office of “Ordine dei Giornalisti della Sardegna”, www.odg.sardegna.it or “Association of Journalists of the Sardinia”, an Italian public body which membership is mandatory for the exercise of the Journalistic profession. At this office we met Mr. Francesco Birocchi, the President of Association. A very humble and warm man who received us and explained about the history of television and radio in Italy from time to time where there were always the journalists involved in it. Mr. Birocchi also described the task of the association he leads that regulates matters related to the rights, the duties and the obligations of journalists in Sardinia.

Hope you can enjoy the story of my fruitful activities on Job Shadowing with TDM2000International team in Cagliari, thanks to TDM2000International which gave me this occasion to have those unforgettable and valuable experiences. For sure, I will share another one later on because it doesn’t finish yet 🙂
