After having 2 weeks experiencing Metlika, enjoying the spring with colorful flowers, sometimes just staying at home cooking with the house mate because it’s very cold outside, now it’s time for us to share with the local about our countries.
On Saturday, the 23rd April 2016, we had cultural night at Mladinski center. We and other EVS volunteer from other countries including Bosnia, Greece and The Philippines. Each country representative presented videos about their countries. Some also cook their traditional food, including us from Indonesia.
I wrote about the presentation on the Mladinski Center website. The blog post can be found here.
So, basically, we presented videos about Indonesia on geographical side, demographic, economic, populations and other general info compared to other countries in the world. Also, we showed Indonesia in nature and culture. Then each of us (Okky, Leni and I) played video about where we come from (Bandung, Surabaya and Bali).
From Indonesia, we brought some Kerupuk – Indonesian crackers, Sambal – chili sauce, Indomie – Indonesian instant noodles that are commonly consume in our country. Some people pretty wowed with our presentation who did not know about Indonesia before. They were amazed that Indonesia consist of over 17.000 islands.
The cultural night was ended by chatting among the volunteers and the local people while listening to Okky playing guitar and sing.
